You are doing exercise regularly. You probably have tried various diets. But still, the weight is not reducing. And you are now starting to think what actually am I doing wrong?

 1.  Measuring your progress in Kg:

 Stop measuring your progress in Kgs and start measuring it in inches. Suppose you begin working out and after a few days you step on weighing scale and you see that you haven’t even reduced even a single kg. Well, let the number not decide how well you are doing.

Because there are chances that you have lost fat and at the same time you have put on some muscle. Instead, you should take a measuring tape and see if your waistline has reduced. Also, you can check if your clothes are fitting you better. If yes, then it is a great news for you as you have improved your body composition. Moreover, checking your weight on a weighing scale can fluctuate by as much as 2Kg in a day. This is because of the water retention and other factors. So, let that number not bother you.

2. Doing the wrong workout: 

One of the major mistakes of the people is that they are doing the wrong type of exercises. Most people think that doing cardiovascular exercise on a treadmill and running for long period of time will help them reduce a lot of weight. It’s not true. Cardio training is good for heart health but it is not ideal for weight loss. An ideal fat loss workout would be the combination of weight training and high-intensity interval training. The best thing about weight training is that even after your workout, you will be burning calories. It is known as Afterburn effect.

High-intensity cardio is where you train your body like a sprinter and not like the marathon runner. So, you can do 30 minutes of weight training followed by 15 minutes of high-intensity cardio. This type of workout will help you reduce weight 5 times faster than just running on a treadmill for long distances.

3. Underestimating the calories: 

In order to lose weight, a person should consume calories less than the maintenance calories. Everbody knows that. But what many people don’t know is that how many calories a particular food contains. And in this process, they end up underestimating the calories that they have consumed. A study shows that people tend to underestimate the calories by as much as 50%.

This is one of the reasons why people fail to lose weight. now, I completely understand that tracking every single calorie is very boring. I personally don’t do it. However, I would suggest you track your calories for just 10 days. In these 10 days, you will have some idea of how many calories can be on a particular diet. And it will help you throughout your life. It is not that difficult, is it? Believe me, taking this small step will help you achieve great results.

4. Overloading yourself:

 Doing weight loss is not a one or two day process. It is a journey in itself. It demands you to change your various eating habits. Now, if you suddenly subject yourself to a hardcore diet and start working out along with it, there are high chances that you might get frustrated in between and stop the journey altogether. So, it is always better to take small steps. I would suggest you to first take care of your diet and then go for exercise. The first thing that you can do is stop eating junk food outside. Then you can reduce the portion size of your meals.

 Unfortunately for many people, the idea of a weight loss diet is starvation. People who skip their breakfast, actually at lunch they eat like a dinosaur. Never make this mistake. This is simply because starvation is not sustainable. Nor is it healthy. Similarly, some people after working out will take will take the liberty and pamper themselves with delicious food outside. That’s because they have put themselves in an uncomfortable position, which is not sustainable for a long time. Anyone can lose weight even if they eat all day. You should only eat the right food in the right amount.
