Water is the main component of the human body. In fact, the body is composed of about 60 to 70 percent of water on the basis of body size. The functions of water in water include digestion, absorption, circulation, construction of saliva, transport of nutrients and maintenance of body temperature. But, you have been drinking water the wrong way all your life.

1. Avoid Drinking Water just Before or After Meals–
Don’t drink water just before or after the meals. This is simply because when we eat food, our body temperature increases (because a digestive fire ignites in our body system to enhance the process of digestion. However, when we drink water the body temperature goes down because of which the digestion process slows down.
Promise yourself that you will not drink water at least half an hour before and an hour after the meal. I know it’s not easy but give a try. It will be very beneficial for you as almost all bodily diseases creep up from indigestion. I will share with you a simple trick that I have applied it to myself and trust me, it has worked really well. Just rinse your mouth with water after meals. This will give you a certain amount of mental satisfaction. Try this and it will work. Within 7-10 days, your body will adapt to this change and you will no longer crave for water before or after meals.
2. Drink Water Sip by Sip–
Drinking water in one go is harmful. In our stomach, gastric juices are produced for digestion. They have a pH level of 1.5 – 3.5(acidic). On the other hand, our saliva has a pH of about 6.5 – 7.5 (basic). Gastric juices are acidic while the saliva is basic. When we drink water sip by sip (means that the water should touch the tongue and other parts of mouth). Do not gulp it. This way, saliva along with water also goes down to the stomach. This helps in the neutralization of the stomach. It is an ideal condition. Gulping water can cause Hernia, Appendicitis and in the long rung Prostate cancer.
3. Let Water be the First Thing in the Morning–
You may have heard that drinking water in the morning increases metabolism. This is mainly because of two reasons. Firstly, when you drink water just after getting up, it clears the large intestine so you don’t feel constipated. Secondly, saliva formed all through the night goes along with the water that you drink in the morning. It has been scientifically proven that the saliva in the morning is most powerful. It can itself cure many diseases. So, drink water before you brush or rinse your mouth. It may sound weird but this will make you healthier. If you have a problem with this, brush your teeth in the night before sleeping.
4. Avoid Chilled Water–
I know we all love chilled water. It quenches our thirst. But unfortunately, chilled water is not good for our body. Chilled water decreases the body temperature hence decreases the pace of digestion. Not only this, chilled water also solidifies the fat from blood in the stomach. This way your body starts storing fat. And your weight tends to increase.Drinking warm water is the best for your body but yes, it’s very difficult to drink it all the time. At least, drink water at room temperature. If it’s really hot and you cannot control your craving for chilled water then in that case drink water from an earthen clay pot.
5. Do Not Drink Water in Standing Position–
When you drink water while standing, the water hits the food pipe with a great force. As a result, the gastric juices tend to come up. This is called Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (G.E.R.D. – Digestive Disorder). So, whenever possible drink water in sitting position.
Drink at Least 3 Litres Of Water Per Day
Drinking a lot of water is very beneficial. Skin glows, No fatigue, no headache, no dehydration. Always, keep your body hydrated. If the colour of your urine is dark yellow or your lips are dry, it indicates that your body is dehydrated. So, water is essential and more importantly, it has to be drunk the right way.
